Fundamentals of Information Systems

During this course, my group and I were tasked with creating a business, which included a business model and creating a working website. The business we decided to pursue was to sell products related to the removal and prevention of ice. My task for the group was to create and design the website to be able to show these products and the ability to sell these items using Stripe. The website was hosted on an Ubuntu server, and was setup using PHP, mySQL, and WordPress. The website is no longer active as I have used the server to create Pinnola.net.

Database Management

During my Database Management course, I was tasked to create a database that needed to have at least 10 lower level entities. For this project, I created a fake retail clothing store that would be collecting user data and storing it in their database. As you can see on the image, this was the final lower level entity relationship diagram. This diagram was then created using mySQL in MySQL Workbench. This data can be later accessed from R Studio or Tableau for data analytics which makes this project very important as it is the first building block to be able to use customer’s data.

Business Process Management

During my Business Process Management course, I was tasked with creating a workflow that shows the process of submitting a trade request on the stock market. This project was created on Signavio, using a bpm filetype. This project was useful to me as it showed me the amount of work that is put into many tasks workers do everyday, and that companies can calculate how much money they spend for each task. I have learned the important of optimizing tasks as it will not only save companies money, but it will also help save workers time so that they are not wasting time on work that is not necessary.

Pinnola.net

I have created the website you are on right now. To create this website, I have created an Ubuntu server that has PHP, mySQL and WordPress installed on. After creating this website, I have used numerous plugins to make the site look as it does. Also installing a google analytics plugin to see who views my site and updates me on which pages might need more work. I have also created another server associated with Pinnola.net, to create my own email server. This email server is hosted on a different Ubuntu server, and allows me to send and receive emails that are hosted on Pinnola.net. I have used iRedMail to install the necessary programs such as postfix and dovecot. While I am still tinkering with gaining a higher SMTP score for google, I am still able to send emails to gmail users and soon they will not immediately go to spam inboxes.
